In the 2008 model year all models switched over to the timing chain. It pays to know what your engine has. This may sound stupid but I always believed my 2001 Tundra with the 47 V8 had a timing chain salesman told me this.
The timing chain service for it was anywhere between 12500 and 15000. Toyota says to replace it and the water pump at 90000 miles. Timing chains however are a different story and will. The chains are more preferred for several reasons. But 4-cylinder 4Runners from 1990 to 2000 and V6 4Runners from 2003 and beyond dont need to worry about changing a belt as these years all have a chain.

The timing chain gets replaced at 120k miles I believe. The 57L 46L and 40L engines have timing chains while the 47L and 34L engines have timing belts. The 2004 Tacoma V6 model has a timing belt and is a non-interference engine.
