2001 Toyota Tundra Timing Belt Marks
Great product complete kit.
2001 toyota tundra timing belt marks. Find a youtube video that shows how to install cam belt with crank at 50 ATDC valve springs will not rotate cams and prevent the potential for valves striking the pistons at top dead center. Pull the pin and rotate by hand the engine a couple of times. These marks serve as a Poka-yoke so that you cant get the marks lined up wrong.
There is another mark that can be seen but just remember we use the T mark for Timing Belt. I have never replaced the timing belt. If it stays on mark it is correct.
So if your marks are lined. Wrap the belt around the crank and left cam. Line up the R-CAM marker with the timing marker on the right cam.
Now lets look at setting up the new timing belt. CARspec recommends you use the T marks. Crank pulley timing mark.
I changed the following MAF. Check it every time it passes over tdc. Turn crankshaft clock wise and bump aginst stop and make a mark on the pulley then do the same counter clockwise and bump the stop and make a mark the center point of these marks is your true TDC.
I have an 01 Limited TRD 4x4 Tundra with 84 k miles on it. I was given an 2001 Tundra RWD from Florida with 189000 miles on it I just had to pick it up and drive it back to New England. I am repalcing the timing belt in my 2000 toyota tundra 47 liter.
